JOSEPH A. (JOE) SIEBENS
Date of BirthJuly 18, 1947 Date of DeathFebruary 11, 2023 Joseph A. “Joe†Siebens, age 75, of Elburn, passed away surrounded by the love and prayers of his family, following a brave battle with cancer, Saturday, February 11, 2023. He was born July 18, 1947, in DeKalb, IL, to loving and proud parents Richard and Marian Siebens. Joe grew up in Maple Park, IL and attended local schools. He graduated from Kaneland High School with the class of 1965. Before receiving his diploma, Joe excelled in track, specifically the hurdles and made a name for himself on the hardwood as a member of the basketball team. Delores “Boots†Onstad came to the Elburn to visit family every year, and happened to catch Joe’s eye, and soon his heart. They were united in marriage on May 20, 1967 and soon began raising a family. They were blessed with four children who kept both Joe and Boots busy, but never too busy to make enough memories to last a lifetime. Following high school, Joe found himself behind the wheel of various semis for Burrens Transfer in Elgin, IL. After thirty years of driving a truck, he turned in his keys when retirement came to call, but never was far from the driver’s seat. Joe was a proud member of the Suburban Teamsters, Local #673 for many years. Joe was the worlds biggest Green Bay Packer Fan and wasn’t afraid to show it to anyone, at any time. He was an avid sports fan of other sports, including his Chicago Cubs and enjoyed playing, as well as watching golf. The links were often kind to him, but when the fickle luck of the greens passed him by, he was quick to demonstrate a temper that left his clubs shaking, sometimes flying and every once in a while, bent. Fishing and camping came natural, and he never missed an opportunity to head north to Canada for some “therapyâ€. Silvertip Lake became the destination of destinations where fresh tales, as well as taller tales, came with every cast. The casino called to Joe and his first stop was always “The Boatâ€, which was preceded by a quick stop for a vat of coffee and smokes to power him through the peaks and valleys of luck.  Jackpots don’t always come in cash. Joe’s biggest “win†was his family and being surrounded by friends from every walk of life. Joe was one of kind, and the memories he left were equally unique and everlasting. He now leaves his loving wife Boots; four children: Jeffery A. (Errika) Siebens, Mike D. Siebens, Jason “Beaker†(Angie) Siebens and Sara (Ryan) Hochsprung; 8 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren: two siblings:Marilyn (Dan) Westphal and David (Connie) Siebens; one sister-in-law, (Barb) Siebens, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a countryside full of friends. Joe is reunited with his parents, Richard and Marian Siebens and his twin brother, Gerry Siebens. A memorial graveside service will be held at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb, at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 18, 2023.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice.
