Kathleen A Abell, age 69, died peacefully on December 15, 2021, surrounded by her loving children. Kathi was born in Jackson, Michigan on June 6th, 1952 to Jack and Patricia Brewer. She was the second born of four children. She grew up in Parma, Michigan until her freshman year in High School when the family moved to Englewood, Ohio. Later, the family moved to Wheaton, IL where Kathi graduated from Wheaton North High school in 1970. Following high school graduation, she joined the postal service for 8 years until the birth of her children after settling in West Chicago, IL. She later pursued a career with OscoDrug which lasted more than 30 years. Kathi was an active and faithful member of Little Home Church by the Wayside, United Church of Christ in Wayne, IL. For more than 30 years, she was instrumental in church life as an occasional Sunday School teacher, church council secretary, a worship service coordinator, and was a dedicated member of the Adult Church Choir. She was supportive of her three children excelling in whatever activity they wanted to try. She helped with sports for her two sons and likewise was actively involved in Girl Scouts with her daughter. She encouraged music learning in all three of her children. She further was active in other groups in her local subdivision of Oak Meadows. She additionally helped out at her children’s elementary school with fundraising activities such as Market Days and the annual Fun Fair. Kathi will be remembered for her commitment to helping others, her strength, her passion for cooking, her love and loyalty to her friends and family as well as her fun and quirky sense of humor. She is survived by her parents Jack and Pat; her three children David (Joyce) Abell, Gregory (Carlos) Abell, and Rachael Abell; her grandchildren Theron, Logan, and Calia Abell; her siblings Duane (Shirley) Brewer, Alan (Mary Kae) Brewer, and Ruth Sutton; and her seven nieces and nephews. Memorial service for friends and family is to take place on January 15, 2022, at 2 pm at The Little Home Church by the Wayside, United Church of Christ 32W128 Army Trail Rd.
