Date of BirthNovember 13, 1916 Date of DeathJune 22, 2024 Mable Brady, 107, of Elburn, IL went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 22, 2024. She was born in Chicago, IL on November 13, 1916 to loving parents Martin and Hazel Mommsen (nee Schindeldecker). Mable was raised for her first years living close to Chicago, before moving to DuPage county where she eventually attended York High School. Mable met and dated the love of her life, James C. Brady, for about a year before marrying on October 9, 1937 in Indiana. Mable spent all of her time looking after and raising her children. She kept her home meticulous and took great pride in the home her and Jim built together, Mable was a long-time member of Community Congregational Church in Elburn, IL. She made many lifelong friends at church. First and foremost, Mable lived for the Lord, she was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and lived her life to honor God. After God came her family. She loved her grandchildren fiercely and was always available to look after them. Mable’s grandchildren have great memories of spending Christmas at their grandma’s house where Mable would teach them how to bake cookies. Mable was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. She never missed a game, event, or graduation. She had the great honor of watching all seven of her grandchildren graduate from college. Mable was amazed at how well rounded and successful all her grandchildren turned out. Her pride and love for them was never ending. Mable took playing Rummikube very seriously. She never lost her wit and could beat anyone in Rummikube all the way up to the end. In her last couple years Mable loved spending time watching the birds out her nursing home window. She loved the simple things in life, the small things are what brought her joy. Mable loved to travel anywhere with anyone. Some of her fondest memories were spent in the passenger seat of a car or jet setting to various locations across the country. It is by the grace of God that Mable stayed sharp nearly up until the end. She always knew what she wanted and how to advocate for herself. Mable is a one of a kind woman, who in her long, long life, lived to enjoy each day like it was her last, she will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Mable leaves behind her children; James M. (Wanda) Brady, Betty Jeanne (Jeff) Allen, and Cindy Adamson, seven very beloved grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren including one on the way, and a whole family of friends.
