Margaret M Fantozzi
September 13, 1921 - December 28, 2020 Margaret Marie Fantozzi, 99, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday December 28, 2020. She was born September 13, 1921, in Chicago, IL; the only child of the late Thomas and Lena Fonti. Margaret is preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Vincent Fantozzi, her baby boy, and a great-grandson Michael Walter.Margaret was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A member of the greatest generation, she was strong and resilient and was like a second mother to her grandchildren. You could follow the smell of Estee Lauder perfume into the kitchen as she was a fantastic Italian cook, constantly making gravy, soup, biscotti and pizzelle, and other treats. From breakfast to ‘cookie-time’, then lunch to dinner; she was happiest in the kitchen, and around family. She had a glow about her and an infectious smile, but if you dared to criticize her in the kitchen, you would get the under-the-breath grumbling just loud enough for you hear. She loved old movies, Wheel of Fortune, her Soap Operas, and Italian music. She also enjoyed dancing with her beloved husband and was a lover of all animals. She will now be able to help care for all the family pets in Heaven. Fun fact……….in her 99 years she never drove! Margaret is survived by her daughter, Veronica Marchese, son-in-law Michael Marchese Jr., 4 grandchildren: Christina Via-Reque (Enrique), Michelle Jeanfreau (Shad), Nicole Cournaya (Josh), and Michael Marchese III (Carrie). She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren, aged 6-17 years old (Eliana, Mariela, Tyler, Vincenzo, Beckham, Lucia, Lucca, Oliver, Lincoln, Lilianna, and Joshua) Funeral services will be held at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles on Saturday January 2. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 am with the Church Services at St. Peters in Geneva at 11:30 and burial to follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.
