Marilyn O. Berg Obituary Marilyn Olive Hermonson was born March 9, 1931 to Clarence & Ethel (Anderson) Hermonson. Mom was very proud of her Scandinavian heritage. She said her toughness came from her Norwegian father’s side and her sweetness came from her Swedish mother’s side. She grew up on a family farm in Harvard, Illinois and left home early to attend North Central Bible College where she met the love of her life, a man named Bill Berg. He played the trumpet and she was his accompanist. They were married in Harvard on June 28, 1952. One year from that date they had a baby boy named William Neal Berg. Mom became a mom and a preacher’s wife. After a short stay as pastor, Dad had a chance to buy a farm outside Burlington, Wisconsin so mom became a farmer’s wife too. Three years after Neal was born she gave birth to her second son William Alan Berg. After Dad sold the farm they moved to Sturtevant, Wisconsin where William Curtis Berg was born. There mom became an insurance salesman's wife. Dad’s job moved him to Saint Charles, Illinois to a neighborhood called Five Island Park. Mom had children four, five, and six, dad’s precious princess Cynthia Dawn Berg, the ever funny man William Clarence Berg and the baby Valerie Joy Berg who was born severely and profoundly mentally disabled. Mom continued to mother her children and used her musical talents to become a long term Elementary School music teacher for Saint Charles Community Consolidated School District 303. She would stay in that position and influence thousands of would-be musical performers, educators, and music lovers. After 25 years as a music teacher she retired and gave her life to her grandchildren. With six children it was always a challenge to keep up with caring for so many grandchildren. Her life is emblazoned upon six children, 18 grandchildren, and 35 great grandchildren by birth and marriage. Although she was affected by dementia in her final years, she still remembered our names and remained true to herself until she could no longer carry her own weight. That’s when it was time to go Home, Jesus was calling her name. She entered into His presence at home on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 (Valerie’s birthday). We are so sad to be missing her, but what joy this brings to our souls to know she is with Jesus.  She and dad  often sang this Chorus:  “O I long to see Him, look upon His face. There to sing forever of His saving grace. On the streets of glory let me lift my voice. Cares all past, Home at last, ever to rejoice.”   She's Home no and we are all left longing for the same thing . . . to see Jesus face to face.  Perhaps we who remain (family & friends) will be greeted by our beloved Wife/Mom/Grandma when we too are called Home. A funeral service for Marilyn will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Chapelstreet Church, 2300 South Street, Geneva, Illinois.
