May 20, 1957

Date of Death

September 24, 2022

Peter A. Siebens, age 65, of DeKalb passed away on September 24, 2022. He was born May 20, 1957, in St. Charles, Illinois, to the proud parents George and Carolyn (Nieminen) Siebens.  Peter grew up in Maple Park and graduated from Kaneland High School.  He earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Texas Lutheran University.  Peter was a special education teacher for 20 years and then worked with developmentally disabled adults.  Peter was united in marriage to Diane Jaeger, but in time, they went their separate ways.

Peter found great joy while fishing in Canada.  He was an avid sports fan enjoying college football and cheering on the Chicago teams.  Forty-five years ago, Peter gathered softball player friends and traveled to Wisconsin to compete in a softball tournament.  Playing “up north” grew into many Illinois teams being formed.  Three teams participated in the 2022 Sugar Camp Tournament an annual tradition and now Pete’s legacy.

He is survived by his mother Carolyn Siebens; seven sisters and brothers: Deborah (Dean) Helfers, Tamara (David) Farley, Timothy (Tammy) Siebens, Daniel (Sandra) Siebens, Melissa (Dale) Wawracz, Nathan (Carlye) Siebens, Alicia (Randy) Holley; 23 nieces and nephews and 19 great-nieces and nephews; aunts; uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father George Siebens; his paternal grandparents Elias and Zelma Siebens; his maternal grandparents Eino and Martha Nieminen; nephew Quentin Richard Helfers and great-niece Alex Noel Siebens.

Visitation at Conley Funeral Home (www.conleycare.com) 116 W Pierce St. Elburn, IL 60119 will be Friday, October 21 from 5-7pm; with Memorial Service at 7pm.  Private Family Graveside Services will be at Fairview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Peter’s name.  Checks can be made out to “Peter A. Siebens Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, Illinois 60119.
