Peter Vincent Koehler, age 74 passed away peacefully at Delnor Hospital in Geneva, IL on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Peter was born on May 26, 1951, at Community Hospital in Geneva, IL, to Vincent and Elizabeth (Bette) Koehler.  Peter was preceded in death by his first wife  Jean Ann Koehler, and by his second wife, Grace Elizabeth Koehler. Peter was a graduate from Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, IL, and attended St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, OK, as well as Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.  Peter was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Charles and was an Oblate at Marmion Abbey. Peter grew up in St. Charles and remained a lifelong resident of the city until the last few years.  As a child, he grew up caddying at St. Charles Country Club, and as an avid golfer, he carried on the tradition by always taking a caddie and passed on the tradition to his children as well.   Peter loved taking trips to Door County, WI with his family.  There, he taught his children to fish and how to properly take a vacation.  Peter and his father owned Koehler, Koehler, Inc., a family insurance company based in St. Charles, IL, and Peter’s daughter Anna Koehler also eventually joined the business.  Peter loved cooking and smoking meats. He had a passion for very sharp knives.  Peter loved reading about history, cooking, traveling and loved reading the classics. Peter and his wife, Grace, were devout Catholics and lived a very spiritual life.  He fiercely loved God, both of his wives, children, and grandchildren. Peter is survived by his daughter Anna Koehler of St. Charles, IL, Michael Koehler (Samantha) of Sycamore, IL and Terence (Rachael) Koehler of Geneva, IL, grandchildren Emma Schnarr, Vincent Schnarr, Andrew Koehler, Olive Koehler, Zadie Koehler and Leo Koehler, siblings Margaret (Daniel) Soliz, Mark Koehler, Kate (David) McCarty, Jane (Henry) Speranzini, Sarah Koehler, Marty (Laurie) Koehler, Chanteboune (Nongrak) Tramany. Along with his first and second wives, Peter is also preceded in death his brother Andrew Koehler, and parents Vincent Koehler and Bette Koehler. Visitation will be on December 2nd from 4-8 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home in St. Charles, IL. Funeral Mass will be held on December 3rd at 10 A.M. at Marmion Abbey in Aurora, IL, with the burial to follow, also at Marmion.
