Raymond J Gibbons
June 8, 1958 - November 23, 2025 Raymond ‘Polonious’ Gibbons, 67, died Sunday, November 23rd, surrounded by his loving family. He was greatly loved by his wife, children, grandchild, siblings and many friends. The son of Hubert and Marilyn Gibbons, Raymond was born June 8, 1958 in Chicago. He married his wife, Patricia Gibbons, in Negril, Jamaica on his favorite holiday, St Patrick’s Day 1991. He was a graduate of St Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota where he enjoyed partying with his friends and attending many Grateful Dead concerts. After graduating he spent a short time in insurance before becoming an air traffic controller in 1982. Raymond was very active in the National Air Traffic Controller Association union, serving as the local representative for years. He spent years serving in the tower at Ohare Airport, where they named an approach pattern after him after his retirement. Ray was a very caring man who would give anyone around him the coat off his back. He always had a smile, some advice and an empty bar seat next to him for anyone – as long as they rooted for the bears or white sox. Survivors include wife Pat, 2 sons, Shane and Matt (Alex), Grandson Noah, 2 brothers Michael (Jeanine) and Jerry (Lynn), 1 sister Eileen (Rich) Reedy and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his son Daniel and his sister Marjorie (Dan) Pisani. A memorial visitation will be held on December 9th, from 2-5 P.M. at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 East Main St., St. Charles IL, 60174Guest BookShareEmailPrint |
