Richard Cary Royston, III
October 10, 1941 - June 26, 2024 Richard Cary Royston III, age 82, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away June 26th, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born to the late R.C. Royston Jr. and Eunice Royston, Cary was a man of great character and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Cary proudly served his country in the Navy, a testament to his dedication and patriotism. Following his military service, he worked at Armin Tool for over 40 years, where his expertise and reliability were highly valued. Known for always having the right tool for any job, Cary’s practical skills were matched only by his love for nature and the great outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, often found casting a line and enjoying the tranquility of the water but rarely catching a fish. He was blessed with a remarkable sense of humor and a talent for telling jokes that could light up any room or just make everyone groan. His laughter and stories will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Cary is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanne, and his children: Rick (Evelyn) Royston IV, Susan (Toby) VonAlevensleben, Michele (Michael) Dutton, Katie (Michael) Cavaliere, Melissa (Joshua) Busson, and stepson Chris Mabbitt. His legacy continues through his 14 beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Charla Lake, and his brother, Fritz Roy Royston, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Cary was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruahama, and his beloved late wife, Patricia Royston. A loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather, Cary will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Funeral mass will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 2nd at St. Patrick Downtown Catholic Church, 400 Cedar Street., St. Charles. Interment will be private at Resurrection Cemetery, Geneva.
