Robert "Bob" C. Kenyon
February 10, 1938 - April 16, 2021
Robert C. “Bob” Kenyon, 83, of Batavia, Illinois, passed away at home on Friday, April 16, 2021, with loving family by his side. Bob was born on February 10, 1938, in Geneva, Illinois, the son of Harry F. and Marie K. (nee. McIntosh) Kenyon. He was united in marriage to Judith L. “Judy” Kenyon on January 14, 1956, in Geneva, Illinois. Bob served in the U.S. Airforce from 1956 to 1960, during a rare time without military conflict. As he would often say, he “flew a typewriter,” amongst other duties while stationed at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell, New Mexico. Bob returned to Illinois, eventually joining the printing union as an apprentice. His printing career included positions at local newspapers such as the Aurora Beacon News and Elgin Courier News, as well as other typesetting firms in the area. In 1975, he opened his own business, aptly named Robert Kenyon Typography, which he successfully operated until 1992. In Bob’s final professional years, he worked as a proofreader, not only for local graphic designers and businesses, but also for major national book publishers. Bob was active in politics, enjoyed classical music and coconut cream pie, and had a quick sense of humor he freely shared. He always walked in others’ shoes, and was truly the definition of a good and honest man. Bob is survived by his three children, Curtis (Patricia) Kenyon, Laura (Joseph) Graver, and Tim Kenyon; his two grandchildren, Benjamin (Laura) Graver and Nicole (David) Dauphin; his four great-grandchildren, Ryder Dauphin, Colton Dauphin, Landon Graver, and Bryson Graver; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his best friend and loving wife of 64 years, Judy Kenyon; his parents; and one brother, Richard J. Kenyon. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, it was Bob’s wish that memorial donations be made to the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Arrangements entrusted to Moss Family Funeral Home 630-879-7900 or www.mossfuneral.com |
