November 26, 1933 - August 30, 2026

Ron Jones, 92, died Sunday, August 30th, with his family at his side.  He was loved and liked by all that met him.  He was a fixture in everyone’s life he met. He was especially loved by his family who hope to carry on his spirit for life and the goodness of family, friends and community. He was the son of Roe and Anna (Anderson) Jones born on November 26, 1933, in Des Moines IA. Ron, a US Army veteran, met Frances Davis on a weekend leave with friends in Wichita KS, and few months later, on June 24, 1955, they were united in marriage in Kansas City, MO. They made their home in Kansas City, MO, where they started their family.  Ron worked in Marketing at Safeway Grocery Stores and went to Rockhurst College at night to earn his Bachelor’s degree. He later became a Medical Sales Rep, and his career took off taking him from Kansas City MO to Phoenix AZ to Fountain Valley CA to Richardson TX and finally to St Charles IL.  He retired as a Regional Sales Manager for Bard Parker, a division of Becton Dickenson. Not to sit for too long, he became a Special Ed Bus Driver and loved it. Ron will be remembered for his quick humor and generous heart.  He made everyone feel included with the many handwritten notes and cards he mailed throughout the year with comics, comments, and his own quirky newsletter.  Christmas in July was his favorite special occasion followed by Halloween and St. Pat’s.  Of course, Valentine’s for all his girls. Ron is survived by his wife Frances of 71 years.   Also survived by daughters, Lyndie Goben (Lynn) and Kristi Jones, and son, David Jones, new family member, Bill Ward, Kristi’s half-brother; four grandchildren, Kati Fomby (Chris), Kevin Goben, Kirk Goben, and Karissa Norton (Mike); great grandson, Nathan Fomby; his sister Patty Mondike, and many nieces and nephews and cousins and lifelong friends. Ron was preceded in death by his daughter Cindy and his brother Bob Jones. In following Ron’s wishes, there will not be any services, but those who wish to, please make a donation to any charity of your choice in his memory.  This was one of Ron’s favorite activities that he did for about 30-40 organizations, with most being for children of need. A final word from Ron, “Have one for the ditch.”Guest BookShareEmailPrint
