UPDATED INFORMATION!

NEW SERVICE ARRANGEMENTS ARE NOW SET FOR ROSS DUERINGER.
VISITATION WILL BE FROM 10-1, TUESDAY SEPT. 6. SERVICES WILL BEGIN AT 1 WITH INTERMENT FOLLOWING AT EAST PIERCE CEMETERY.

Ross Dueringer Sr., age 80, of Maple Park, IL, passed away peacefully and has been released into the realms of Heaven on August 23. 2022.

He was born July 12, 1942, in Aurora, IL, to loving parents, Chester and Maxine Dueringer.

Ross grew up in Maple Park and became a “lifer” spending all his years and making all his memories within his beloved hometown.

Ross was united in marriage to Barbara Matteson in 1959 and they were blessed with two children. Though they were to take separate paths as the years passed, the love and devotion to their children never wavered, as their warm friendship never waned.

Ross worked at Sycamore Auto Parts, 4th Street Motors and in 1968, he began working with his father, at Dueringer’s Garage in Maple Park. Later he worked for Country Delight as a truck driver from 1970-1978 and later at Spike’s Used Cars in Sycamore. He took an entrepreneurial turn in 1986 when he established Elm Street Auto Mart in Maple Park. His love for his hometown grew into a leadership position when he was voted Mayor in 2005. After stepping down four years later, Ross continued to work and support his community any way he could.

Ross was an avid classic and antique car enthusiast and was most proud of his 1939 LaSalle. His passion may have been passed down from his father, and though from different generations, the fever for hot rods never fell below the red line. Ross had a close group of lifelong friends that gathered at Elm Street Auto, with Ross holding court (and many times a cold beer) from his office. They also included a dedicated bunch that gathered daily at Sam’s Restaurant in Cortland. Birthdays and holidays lit up his eyes, and sometimes his singing voice, celebrating at every opportunity. Ross was a singular man with strong convictions, but also a soft spot for his favorite feline friend, Spike. Irreplaceable, no one will be able to step in his shoes, but all will remember him for years to come.

He is survived by his two children, Karen (Dave) Diehl and Ross Dueringer Jr,; 4 grandchildren: Adam (Angela) Diehl, Holly (Pete) Venere, Justin (Brennan Moriarity) Dueringer and  Emilee Dueringer; 9 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Hudson, Cooper, Adeline, Justice, Makayla, Kaiden, Jaya, and Miyah; good friend Barbara Siebens and a countryside of friends.

He now joins his parents, Chester and Maxine Dueringer, who preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 10-1p.m., with a funeral service to celebrate his life to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Pierce Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the charity of your choice. Memoires and tributes may be left on the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com.
