SANDRA K. “Sandy” PETIT

Date of Birth

October 9, 1950

Date of Death

December 6, 2021

Sandra Kaye (Thuestad) Petit, 71, of Sycamore, Illinois died December 6, 2021, at her home, into the arms of our Lord and Savior.

Sandy was born October 9, 1950, at St. Mary’s Hospital in DeKalb, the daughter of Orval and Norma Thuestad.  Sandy enjoyed growing up on the family farm in Creston.  A beagle, Queenie, was one of her cherished memories from on the farm. She graduated from Rochelle High School in 1968.  Sandy married Alan Petit on December 11, 1971, at First Lutheran Church in DeKalb, Illinois.

Sandy worked as a telephone operator at Contel and then as an administrative assistant for Northern Illinois University.

She was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Virgil, Illinois.  She enjoyed golfing, knitting, and gardening. She was a master canner, jelly maker and donut maker. Sandy’s joy was her family and faith. Many days she would spend baking desserts to share with those she loved, playing with her grandkids, or praying the rosary.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alan of Sycamore; her children, Tracy (Tom) Carlson, and Nicole (Paul) Marchese; six grandchildren: Morgan and Timothy Carlson, and Juliana, Joseph, Matthew and Melanie Marchese; her siblings, Roger (LaRonda) Thuestad, Jim (Betty) Thuestad, and Pris Thuestad.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn. A Mass to celebrate her faith will be held at 11 a.m., at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Virgil, on Friday, December 10. Interment will follow at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery, also in Virgil.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Sandy’s name. Checks may be made to the “Sandra K. Petit Memorial” and mailed in care of P.O. Box 66, Elburn, 60119. Tributes may also be forwarded to the same address, the Conley Funeral Home Facebook Page, or at www.conleycare.com where you can find her full life story.
