Walter Edward Weiss

Walter Edward “Ed” Weiss, 84, of Batavia, IL, passed away on October 1, 2021, surrounded by his family at his home in Batavia, Il.  Ed was born on August 18, 1937, in Lansing, MI, the son of Walter and Mary (nee Rebert) Weiss.  He was married to Nancy Lee Petersen on April 19, 1963, in Chicago, Il.

During his work career, Ed was a packaging engineer in the telecommunications industry. He had numerous volunteer activities, including political activism, promotion of bicycling events, nature advocacy, historical preservation, municipal zoning and planning committee work, as well as service to the retirement community in which he lived. His hobbies included folk dancing, music, refurbishing houses, bicycling (especially racing), and gardening.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Lee Weiss; his three children, Elizabeth (Robert) Lennie, Ted (Sandy) Weiss and Peter Weiss; five grandchildren; one grandson; one brother, Jack Weiss; and two nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
