William Berg Obituary William Henry Berg (Bill Berg), 94, of Saint Charles IL, peacefully entered Heaven on Fri, Jul 10, 2026 at 9:10pm. His desire was to live at home for the remaining days of his life. That was accomplished by his loving family surrounding him through the final days of his life. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 72+ years, Marilyn Olive (Hermonson) Berg (2025), his son, William Alan Berg (1990). He is survived by his brother, Dave (Phoenix AZ). He is the proud parent of Neal (Geena), Curt (Jan), Cindy (Jeff) Dryden, Billy (Linda Garda) & Valerie Berg (at Marklund Home). A total of 17 grandchildren, over 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren will remember their GGpa with fond memories. He will be missed by many who were impacted over the years through his interaction with many people groups.   Born April 1, 1932 in Duluth MN Bill grew up in a hardworking neighborhood. He met his future wife, Marilyn Hermonson, at North Central Bible College in MN where they both participated in musical activities. Marilyn played the piano and Bill played the trumpet. After their wedding Bill pursued a career in ministry and pastored a church in Delavan, WI. After several years they changed directions and bought a farm in Honey Creek WI, where he also pastored a quaint white steepled church on the tallest hill.  Due to unforeseen circumstances it was time to sell the farm where they milked cows and grew feed for the animals. Bill had many other interests to show not even his physical disability could stop him from achieving success. He was a successful insurance broker (Wheaton IL), real estate assessor (St. Charles IL), golf course greenskeeper (Potawatomi Park), restaurant owner (Al’s Cafe in St. Charles, Batavia & Elgin).  One of his greatest achievements besides raising a family committed to following Jesus was to honor the Indian community which saw a beloved statue vandalised in Potawatomi Park. During his stint as president of the Saint Charles Rotary Club he commissioned Guy J. Bellaver to construct a new statue on the shores of the Fox River near the old downtown police station in Saint Charles IL (1988). He has been a long time resident of Saint Charles and proud to call this place home. Another huge difference he and Marilyn made in our community was their involvement in a ministry devoted to helping those afflicted with the HIV Aids virus, Love in Action. Countless people will remember Bill & Marilyn’s dedication to helping others in need. It was not unusual to see many youth hanging out at the pool on Park Avenue as they hosted Youth for Christ events, especially the annual burger bash which initiated each school year. Into his 80s he kept serving. He volunteered for over a year at the Illinois Youth Center in Saint Charles IL. Interment follows the service for family only at 12:30pm.
