Barbara Marie Hoffman

Barbara Marie Hoffman, 86, of Batavia, Il., passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Ekstam Assisted Living in Batavia, IL from complications of Alzheimer's.  Barbara was born on November 20, 1935, in Aurora, Il., the daughter of Howard and Mary (née. Jacobs) Cole.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Peter Hoffman on May 5, 1979, in Aurora, IL.

Barbara worked 30 years as Production Manager at Coats and Clark in Aurora IL. She was an avid baker, especially when it came to extravagant wedding cakes and making Christmas cookies during the holidays. Barbara enjoyed a multitude of hobbies, including sewing, stain glass, antiquing, and gardening. In her later years she loved spending time with her grandkids.

Barbara volunteered a lot of her time with the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry in Batavia and made regular contributions to a variety of charities.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Barbara Christenson, of Geneva; her three grandchildren, Jennifer Christenson, Matthew Christenson and Elizabeth (Chris) Nielsen; three great grandchildren, Joseph Christenson, David Christenson and Andrew Nielsen; her sister, Sylvia Corbin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph P. Hoffman; her three sisters, Virginia Carley, Patricia Horton and Donna Mae Stahlin.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL. 60510.  Prayers will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 29. 2021, also at the funeral home.  Mass will follow at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 South Main St., Batavia, Il. 60510.  Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Aurora, Il. In lieu of flowers memorial donation in Barbara’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
