Christopher James Bishop

Christopher James Bishop October 8, 1982 - February 28, 2020

Our dear Christopher James Bishop, 37, made his transition before the sun rose on Friday, February 28, 2020. He was surrounded by his family: mother, Mary; father, Jim; younger sister, Jennifer; younger brother, Alexander. After an unexpected non-heart-attack cardiac arrest, there were epic complications that Christopher fought so incredibly hard to overcome. The battle no longer consumes him, and he is now at peace.

Christopher had the kind of brain power that people typically just hear about; he could read something once and remember it for seemingly-forever, he could look at a bunch of components and easily see how they all go together, and he could imagine possibilities that even science and technology hadn't caught up to yet. A voracious reader, he truly was like a human encyclopedia: no matter the topic of conversation, he always seemed to have something to contribute. It was amazing to witness.

On his way to becoming certified as a Porsche mechanic, Christopher was following his dream to be a member of a Porsche racing team's crew. Passionate about cars from the early age of 3, Chris was always on the forefront of wanting to learn everything there was to know about them; he not only appreciated cars (and planes) from a distance -- he strived to truly understand them. Any racing crew would have been incredibly lucky to have Christopher's heart & brainpower behind their speed & horsepower.

Our dear Christopher was a man ahead of his time: coming up with ideas that technology had not-yet-been-invented to support, and being an incredibly gentle soul in a world that constantly tries to equate being gentle with being weak. The battles my big brother fought throughout his life illustrate a kind of strength that leaves me utterly awestruck. Getting to be his little sister has made me a better human being.

Funeral services for this beautiful soul will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Rd., St. Charles, IL 60175.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., followed by Mass at 11:00 A.M.   Immediately afterwards, there will be a luncheon on the church property; we thank the team at St. Patrick's for coordinating such nourishment.

While Christopher's abilities to help others in pain or in need have been muted, we invite you to consider allowing your own to be broadcasted; by making a contribution in Christopher's name to any charity, cause, or organization that resonates with you -- we can continue to embrace who he truly was and what he truly was about.
