Craig C. Price

Craig C. Price, 79, of Batavia, Illinois, passed away peacefully in his home in Batavia.

Craig was born on September 23, 1943 to James Price and Willis (Horner) Price in St. Paul, Minnesota. From an early age, Craig has had a passion for cars and boats. Craig graduated from Mounds View High School and went on to study Automotive and Electrical Engineering at Dunwoody College of Technology. After graduating with his degree in Engineering, he continued his education at the University of Wisconsin, kickstarting a 36-year career with Mercedes Benz of North America as the Director of Technical Training for the North Central Region in the U.S. and Canada. The most gratifying part of his career was sharing his passion, technical knowledge and problem-solving skills with future generations of Mercedes Benz technicians.

In 1979, Craig met Sue while racing radio-controlled cars. Craig and Sue married in 1987 with the blessing of Craig’s three teenage children Sharon, Dan and Matt. Sue shared Craig’s passion for boats, muscle cars, Harley motorcycles, camping, and anything car or racing related.  

Craig was a true gearhead whose passion for boats, cars, and racing, combined with his automotive skills and lead foot, grew into a love affair with the automobile that continues to be shared with his wife, children and grandchildren. In the summers, you could often find Craig boating, at cars shows and races, or cruising on his Harley. During the winter months, when he wasn’t working on his cars, you could find him working on his model railroad, boat building, creating a model train empire in his home.

In 2002, Craig retired and has never been one to let the grass grow under his feet.

With encouragement of Sue, Craig also developed a passion for gardening and landscape design; creating a beautiful garden at their home. Whether it was landscaping, building, or adventuring with Sue, there wasn’t much he didn’t do and everything he did – he did well, and he did with passion.

Craig was predeceased by his son Daniel Craig Price in 2021. Craig’s legacy and love live on though his wife Susan Price, his daughter Sharon Kay Price and her partner Donald Bruce, and Craig’s grandchildren Rhiana Marie Sanchez, Araceli Kay Sanchez-Kamlin, and her husband Brian Kamlin. He is also survived by his son Matthew William Price and grandson Stephen Price.

His family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated daily caregiver, Ashley Jade Gentry.  Ashley helped keep Craig and his close family positive and motivated throughout the last year, really making a difference in all our lives.

Private services will be held at Moss Funeral Home.

A special car & motorcycle rally will be planned during the summer as a tribute to celebrate Craig and Dan’s life in the way they would want to be remembered.
