Darlene Francis Sims

Darlene Francis Sims, 87, passed away on Saturday January 18, 2020 in St. Charles. She was born on October 20, 1932 in Pana, IL to James Hampton and Liala Bess (nee Elliot) French. She was united in marriage to Lowell C. Sims on June 16, 1963 in Pana.

Darlene grew up in Pana. She attended Milikin University and St. Johns School of Nursing in Springfield, graduating as a registered nurse. Over her career she worked in a doctor’s office, as a home health care nurse, and a school nurse. Darlene had many interests including quilting, baking, gardening, and spending time at the family’s vacation home in Door County Wisc. What she enjoyed most though, was spending time with her family and friends.

Darlene leaves behind her son, Jim Sims of St. Charles, a brother Rex French of Batavia, a sister Ramona Zigman of Lombard, a sister in law Josephine Sims of Auburn, as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Lowell, a brother Roger French, a sister Donna French, a sister in law Nancy French, and a brother in law George Zigman.

Services to be held at a later date.  Donations may be made to St. Johns School of Nursing, Pana Community Hospital, or Chapel Street Church of Geneva
