David “Dave” Smith, age 77, of Batavia, IL, died on December 5, 2022. Dave was born on January 22, 1945, to parents Ralph and Muriel Smith. After Dave graduated from Willowbrook Community High School in 1963, he attended Southern Illinois University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business, where he met his wife, Christy (McMurtrie).
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, Dave was an accomplished insurance professional, who enjoyed bike rides, catching up with friends, and spending time with family. He is survived by his wife, Christy, and his children Brent (Pam Eernisse), Craig (Katie Fitzgerald), Todd, and grandson, Tatum. Dave is also survived by his dear brother, Allan (Carleen), nephew Mark (Debbie Chang), niece Karri Jacoboski (Brian), as well as many cousins and long-time friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, December 11 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Avenue, Batavia, IL 60510, from 1:00-3:00pm, with a service beginning at 3:00pm. A private interment will be held at West Batavia Cemetery.
