Dorothy Jean Carlson

Dorothy Jean Carlson (nee Frey), 91, passed away on November 26, 2022.  She was born in Philadelphia, PA on October 13, 1931, and raised in Harrisburg, PA. the daughter of George and Lottie (nee Ross) Frey.  She was united in marriage to John A. Carlson June 13, 1953, at the Frist Baptist Church of Geneva. 

Dorothy and her husband John built a house in Batavia and lived there until they moved to the Holmstad Retirement Community 10 years ago.  They were members of Bethany Lutheran Church where Dorothy was a member of the bell choir and made many banners used in the sanctuary.

Dorothy graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA.  She graduated from the West Suburban School of Nursing in 1952.  She worked for many years in the Obstetrics Department at Community Hospital in Geneva.  She was a school nurse in Batavia until retiring.

During retirement Dorothy volunteered at Delnor Hospital.  She and John loved to travel and visit their children and grandchildren.

Survived by four children, David Carlson, Lynda (Tom) Warehime, Nancy Kohler, Wayne (Kari) Carlson, seven grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew Carlson, Kelli (Zac) Turner, Jenna (Adam) Goble, Daniel Warehime, Michael (Samantha) Carlson, Kendall Carlson, and two great-grandchildren William and Jackson Turner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John, brother George Frey, and grandson Jonathan Carlson.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Avenue Batavia, IL.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be in West Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, IL.
