Douglas Allen Wright

Douglas Allen Wright August 15, 1957 - May 31, 2022

Douglas “Doug” Wright gained his wings on May 31, 2022 at the age of 64. He lived with his family in South Elgin, IL. His battle with AML over the last 15 months showed his immense courage in facing many challenges with a positive attitude and unbelievable strength. His determination was amazing for all those months. He was surrounded by his loved ones when he left, and we all sent him on his journey, filled with so much love and devotion.

Doug met his best friend and soul mate, Debbie on a blind date. They were blessed to celebrate 25 years of marriage. Their beloved son, Nolan was Doug’s true light in his life, and he loved him beyond words. Doug was born to Robert and MaryBelle Wright on August 15, 1957. He had great love for his sister, Beth Wright (Myron), and nephew, Zach and niece, Zoe; brother, Jim (Deb) Wright; sister-in-law Cheryl (Brian) Izard, and nephew Dane. He also was a proud dad to furry and feathered kids, Ginger, Gus Gus, Wilbur and Huey.

Doug has always had a zest for life, which was apparent, even as a child, and was always evident as an adult. He had a passion for music and high-end audio systems, and also loved to race bikes over the years. He was a fabulous cook and a great grill master. He also loved being around people; he was a true “social butterfly.” His chosen career was the perfect outlet for working with people. He was a proud sales rep for Motion Industries, and had a fondness not only for his coworkers, but customers alike. He loved the notion of helping his customers solve a problem and achieve their goals. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place later this summer. Donations can be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, www.lls.org or Be The Match, www.bethematch.org.

We will miss your infectious smile, quick wit and love for life and family, but we know we’ll meet again someday. We all owe it to ourselves to enjoy life, each other, and celebrate each day. It’s the little moments that truly are the big moments.

All services were held private.
