Edward William Smith, of Sugar Grove passed away peacefully at the age of 83 on January 21st. Edward was lovingly born on October 24, 1938 to his parents Edward and Clara Smith. He was such an adorable child he was commissioned to play baby Jesus in a local play. Edward graduated from Marmion Military Prep. He shared memories of his days on the drill field and what he had learned in school. He joined the Army Reserves and even taught class while he was serving. Edward joined a plumber’s apprenticeship at W.H. Frazier in Aurora after graduating school. He would go on to purchase W.H. Frazier and serve his community for over 30 years. He was known around Aurora by many as the best plumber in town. His Ford red truck was also famous around town. He had many hobbies that he absolutely loved. One of his favorite was fishing. He would go on many trips to Canada to search for Northern Pike. Another was target shooting which he enjoyed very much. He met his beautiful wife Ruth at a local singles dance and the two were happily married in 1959. They shared over 62 years of love. They were blessed with three wonderful children Wendy, Kevin and Craig. He was a tough man but a softy at heart. He was an excellent husband, father and grandfather to everyone. Edward is survived by his loving wife Ruth and their two sons: Kevin (Laura) and Craig, son-in-law Stephen Perna. His grandchildren Anthony (Carrie-Anne), Christopher, Lauren (Richard) Browne, Trent. His Great grandchildren Dominik, Lucas and Paige (Browne) all of whom he truly adored. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, His brother Donald and sister Virginia, his loving daughter Wendy, and his precious granddaughter Alyssa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third Street, St. Charles, IL. 60174 beginning at 2:00 pm until time of service at 3:00 pm. Visitation will continue after service until 4:00pm. |
