Elizabeth Wendy Spurgeon

November 28, 1984 - December 22, 2020

Elizabeth Wendy Spurgeon, 36, of Batavia passed away unexpectedly at her home in Chicago. She was born November 28, 1984 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Terry and Cynthia (Eden) Spurgeon. Beth was a graduate of Batavia High School, The University of Iowa with a BA in Art Education and a Master’s Degree in Education from National Louis University.

Beth spent most of her teaching career at the high school level and especially enjoyed working with children with special needs. She developed many individual curriculum programs for her students. They adored her & she adored them. She helped many students find employment in the community after they had graduated.

Beth loved life; her family & friends, her dog Charlie, laughing, cooking, fashion, art design and traveling. She had traveled extensively to many countries; her favorite place was Greece & the Greek Islands. She had spent a summer doing a study abroad program in Rhodes Greece.

She is survived by her parents, Terry and Cynthia Spurgeon of Batavia IL, Kathryn (Kohl) Meyer; a nephew Brooks Meyer; of St. Charles, IL, her maternal grandparents, Wendell and Betty Eden of Washington Iowa, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Leland and Virginia Spurgeon.

A private memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 30^,2020 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave, Batavia, IL., a memorial service will follow at 11:00 A.M. also at the funeral home. The family would like to invite all that would like to attend the service, to follow the below zoom link to attend the service virtually.
