Frank Watson, 87, of St. Charles passed away peacefully at 4:35 P.M., Sunday, January 30, 2022, in his home surrounded by his family. Frank was born on July 17,1934 in Rolla, Missouri, the son of Frank and Mabel (nee Waltz) Watson. He married Janet Ballard on March 12, 1955, in Rolla. Frank was educated in Rolla, MO and graduated from Rolla School of Mines, now called Missouri University of Science and Technology, with a degree in civil engineering. He worked in St. Louis, MO, Davenport, IA and eventually Glen Ellyn, IL, retiring as the owner of Shong Construction Company. Frank proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Korea. Frank enjoyed golfing, boating and snowmobiling while at their cabin on Lake Camelot in Central Wisconsin. He cheered for the Bears, holding season tickets for many years. He and Janet enjoyed traveling, spending many vacations in Cabo San Lucas and Sanibel Island. He enjoyed the reunions of both his high school and college friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Janet of St. Charles; his daughter Linda Jackson and his son Douglas (Lisa) Watson, his seven grandchildren: Mandy Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson, Bethany (Melissa) Zavada, Christopher (Emily) Newsome, Troy Watson, Rachel Watson and Eric Watson, and his seven great-grandchildren; Blakely, Adalynn, Kennedy, Jace, Brock, Claire, and Bo. There is one niece, Stephanie, and his faithful caregiver, Ian. His parents and two brothers preceded him in death. In honor of Frank's wishes cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Missouri University of Science and Technology general scholarship fund or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research. |
