Gladys S. Dieckmann
May 25, 1922 - February 18, 2022 Gladys S. Dieckmann, 99, of St. Charles, IL, and formerly of West Chicago, IL, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL. Gladys was born on May 25, 1922, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of William and Marie (nee Sullivan) Straumann. She was united in marriage to Jack Charles Dieckmann on December 5, 1942, in Chicago, IL. She is survived by three sons, David Dieckmann, Robert (Barbara) Dieckmann, and Donald (Bobbie) Dieckmann; nine grandsons, Brian, Jason (Megan), Alex (Emily), Daniel, James (Tierney), John (Ashley), Joshua (Patricia), Jacob, and Eli (Jessica) Dieckmann; nine great-grandchildren, Braden, Aubrey, Kayla, Hudson, Byron, Henry, Jack, Ella, and Lucy; and niece, Karen Hickman. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Jack C. Dieckmann; son, Michael Dieckmann; two infant daughters, Linda and Ann Marie Dieckmann; sister, Helen Frey; and niece, Patricia Becchio. Gladys was a longtime member of St. Michael’s United Church of Christ in West Chicago where she sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Women’s Guild. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, painting, writing, and reading. For many years she and Jack were volunteers at Morton Arboretum. A memorial service to celebrate the lives of both Gladys and her husband, Jack, will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Michael’s United Church of Christ, 400 W. Washington Street in West Chicago, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name may be made to St. Michael’s United Church of Christ.
