Harry Lawrence Luebbering
July 26, 1935 - December 11, 2021 Harry Lawrence Luebbering, 86, of Batavia, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, surrounded by his loving family at home in Batavia. Harry was born on July 26, 1935, in Argyle, Missouri, the son of Anton and Eleanor (nee. Wilde) Luebbering. He was united in marriage to Roberta Ann Dempsey on August 21, 1965, at St. Pious X Catholic Church in Moberly, Missouri. He was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Harry attended St. Andrews Church and School in Tipton, Missouri. He served in the Army at Okinawa, Japan in the security services. He loved to share stories about intercepting messages from foreign countries and communicating in morse code. He was Vice President of Union Insurance in Bloomington, Illinois, had many successful years with Franklin Life Insurance earning many top sales vacations, and completed his career as a certified financial planner with AIG. If he wasn’t traveling or watching sports, he could be found on the local golf course or fishing at one of his favorite, secret fishing holes. Harry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Roberta Ann Luebbering; Milissa (Kevin) Pitz, Andrea (Jason) Childers, Stacey (Bob) Maramba, and Brian Luebbering; his six grandchildren, Nolan Pitz, Marin, Jackson, and Cullen Childers, William and Emily Maramba; his brother, Earl (Virginia) Luebbering; his sister-in-law, Lillie Luebbering, numerous nieces and nephews, and three special godchildren, Debbie Waller, Leo Flynn and Karen Albertin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his four sisters; Dorothy Wallenmayer, Eunice Lappat, Ethel Wolf, Betty Gerke; and brothers, Paul and Stanley Luebbering. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, Illinois, 60510. Prayers will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, December 17, 2021, also at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main St., Batavia, Illinois 60510. Interment will be held privately at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Moberly, Missouri. Memorial donations in Harry’s name may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Parkinson’s Foundation. |
