Helen M. Hanzlik
February 22, 1927 - February 17, 2022 Helen Hanzlik, 94, of Aurora, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 17th, 2022, at Jennings Terrace in Aurora, IL. Helen was born on February 22nd, 1927, in Chicago, IL., the daughter of Charles and Anna (nee. Komar) Juriss. She was united in marriage to Stephen Edward Hanzlik, on February 16, 1946, in Chicago, IL. Helen passed away one day after what would have been their 76th Anniversary and five days before her 95th birthday. She was a devoted Catholic member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for many years. The family will remember her for her love of making and sharing her traditional family recipes as well as her healthy lifestyle and love of traveling, especially to see her cousins overseas. Since Helen, Stephen and several other family members have suffered from Alzheimer's, the family has seen first hand the horrible effects this awful disease causes, which is why the organization is significant to them. Helen is survived by her loving daughter, Dawn Kappel, her two grandchildren, Devin Izdepski and Deanna (Robert) Terry; her four great grandchildren, Angelina, Alyssa, and Evan Terry and Noah Izdepski; her brother, Joseph Juriss; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Stephen E. Hanzlik; her sister Lillian Maple. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, IL. 60510. She will lie in state from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., on Thursday, March 3, 2022, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 801 Oak St., North Aurora, IL. 60542. Mass will follow at 10:30 A.M. also at the church. Entombment will be at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
