Inez Holmgren
September 17, 1926 - September 12, 2022 Inez Stark Holmgren, formerly of Yorkville, passed away September 12, 2022, at Jennings Terrace in Aurora. She was born September 17, 1926, in Aurora, Illinois, the daughter of Allen E. Stark and Clara Schrader Stark. Inez graduated from East Aurora High School on D-Day, June 6, 1944. She was united in marriage on June 28, 1947, to Robert P. Holmgren at her parents’ home in Aurora. Her father-in-law, Reverend Carl Holmgren, performed the ceremony. Together they owned and operated Aurora Tool & Die Company for 28 years until Bob’s retirement in 1988 when they moved to Yorkville. Inez was a former member of the Fourth Street Methodist Church and the Batavia Boat Club. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader for ten years. She always enjoyed working with young people. In her neighborhood in Yorkville, she was affectionately known as Mrs. H, the cookie lady. Her hobbies were knitting, sewing and reading. She was a volunteer at the Senior Center in Yorkville where she met many new friends. Survivors include her three children: Sons Thomas of Yorkville, Robert C. (Karen) of Elburn, and a daughter Kristine (Gary) Toft of Marsing, Idaho; Seven grandchildren: Katie Heckelsberg, Lindsay Venturini, Kari Holmgren, Joshua Holmgren, Kim Stogdell, Jeb Stogdell, and Eric Toft; Eleven great grandchildren: Ian Heckelsberg, Nolan Heckelsberg Brynn Heckelsberg, Desmond Venturini, Henry Venturini, Connir Simmons, Aidan Boies, Joshua Bevel, Brody Stogdell, Peyton Stogdell and Hayden Toft; Two great great grandchildren: Lillianna Simmons and Hazel Simmons; and a sister, Cec Mitchler of Aurora; also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Holmgren, her parents, Allen Stark and Clara Schrader Stark, and a great granddaughter, Jocelyn Jo Venturini. There will be a private cremation burial at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Aurora. |
