Jean  V. Rodgers November 24, 1933 - May 1, 2020

Jean V (Vicenzina Gina) Rodgers nee Pascente was born on November 24, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois and baptized into the Catholic Faith on June 30, 1934 at Our Lady of Pompeii Parish, Chicago. October 26, 1957 she was joined in Holy Matrimony, St Mary of Celle Catholic Church, Berwyn, Illinois to John Robert Rodgers for 62 years.  On the morning of May 1st, 2020, Jean passed peacefully into eternal life.  Jean was a free-lance writer and active in her Broadview community, her residence for over 60 years.  Jean was a tremendous support to her husband, John, as he served as Trustee and later Mayor of Broadview. 

Jean is survived by her husband of over 62 years, John, who meticulously and devotedly cared for and tenderly loved Jean with a great sense of humor and charm for many years. Mother to Dolores (Ralph) Holmen, John (Elizabeth) Rodgers, Carol (Paul) Pokryfke and James Rodgers.  Grandmother to Victoria (Wesley) Peterson, Grace Holmen, Ramsey (Katie) Pokryfke, Taylor (Tim) Smith, Faith, Anne, Joseph, and Maureen Pokryfke, John and Daniel Rodgers.   Great grandmother to twin Peterson babies in heaven and one Pokryfke baby on the way.  She was very close to her cousin Phyllis Cantu and life long friend Patricia Marks Tank.

Preceded in death by her parents Gerardo and Antonia Pascente, in-laws John and Annie Rodgers, sisters Marie (Tom) Rocco and Ann (Robert) Main. Jean is surrounded by many loving in-laws Nora Forchione, Bridget (Josie) Skrowronski, Peter and Philip Rodgers, Mary (Honeygirl) O'Brien, Millie Zingarelli, Annie Getz, and Sara Lee Rodgers-Schmidt, and preceded in death by James, Charles (Irene), Joseph (Emmett) Rodgers, Catherine Neumann, and Grace Hyland,  Jean was very close to many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private Mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Batavia.   Interment will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Masses be said for the repose of her soul.
