Joan M. Morrissey

Joan M. Morrissey April 11, 1936 - February 1, 2022

Joan Morrissey, 85, of Aurora passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Symphony at the Tillers in Oswego. She was born April 11, 1936, in Aurora the daughter of Arthur Valentine and Elizabeth (Hames) May.  She was united in marriage to William “Bill” Morrissey at St. Nicholas Church in Aurora October 5, 1957.

Joan wasn’t just a grandmother to her own 9 grandchildren, but also to the many children she cared for during the 35 years of daycare that she provided from her home in Aurora. To her, each of the children she cared for was like one of her own. She had a heart of gold, and the patience of a Saint. Joan loved her grandchildren, children and close friends. If she wasn’t at a sporting or school event for her grandchildren, she was with her close group of friends playing cards or bingo around a table at Prisco Center. She also spent time volunteering at the local found shelf during retirement. One of Joan’s favorite activities was snowmobiling with family and friends throughout Wisconsin.  Joan was a caring, loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives of everyone that had the pleasure to know her.

She is survived by five children, William G. (Marcie) Morrissey, of North Aurora, Beth (John) Bingham of Batavia, Deborah (George) Sullivan of Oakdale, MN, Michael Morrissey of Aurora, and Michele (Todd) Hernandez of Las Vegas, NV; nine grandchildren, Billy and Joe Morrissey, Kaila and Conner Bingham, Nicholas and Courtney (Julio) Sullivan, Sean Barber, and Ethan and Aidan Hernandez; one brother Raymond (Sharon) May; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her, Husband William; and her siblings, Joseph May, Richard May, Delores Symoniak, and Rita Donka.

Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Avenue Batavia, IL.

Funeral Services will begin 10:00 A.M. Monday February 7, 2022, from Moss Family Funeral Home, Batavia; before processing to Annunciation Catholic Church 1820 Church Road Aurora to celebrate Mass at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow the Mass at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
