John Francis Venneri

John Francis Venneri, 97, of St. Charles passed away January 25, 2022, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL.  He was born June 26, 1924, in Chicago, IL the son of James and Mary (Vinci) Venneri.  He was united in marriage to Mary Jeanne Murphy May 5, 1956, in Chicago, IL.

John was raised in Chicago and a graduate of De La Salle High School. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II.  Once he was honorably discharged, he worked hard to complete his degree in Accounting from Northwestern University.  John had a successful and rewarding career working as the treasurer for many years at Alexander Lumber Company.  John was a dedicated and involved father and grandfather.  He was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Parish and school.  Faith, education, and community was very important to John.  He served as a board member on the St. Patrick School, he was a constant volunteer for St. Patrick Parish, and he enjoyed coaching youth basketball for the church school.  John was always looking for ways to give back through charity, teachings, and social services as a religious man he became involved in The Third Order of St Francis.  

He is survived by his loving and adored wife Mary Jeanne; three children, Mary Zahner, James (Diane) Venneri and Margaret Venneri; four grandchildren, Edward J. Zahner, Thomas Zahner, John Edward Venneri and Laura Venneri. 

He is preceded in death by his sister Emily Hurley and a son-in-law Zane Zahner.

Visitation will be held 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 31, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6N491 Crane Road St. Charles, IL.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. following the visitation at the Church.  Interment will be held in Resurrection Cemetery in Geneva, IL.
