John James Kendrick

Jack graduated from St. Bede Academy in Peru, IL, and received his bachelor’s degree from Marquette University. He proudly served in the US Army. Like his brothers, Jack reveled in his Irish heritage and enjoyed singing Irish songs with them.  He was an avid follower of Chicago sports teams and loved watching college basketball.  Jack had a long career in advertising and publishing.

Jack is survived by his children, Katherine (Kent) Leaman and Keith Kendrick, grandchildren Alex and Connor Leaman, sister-in-law Jane Kendrick, many nieces and nephews, his fellow resident Veterans at Hines and his friend Jan.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Collette Ropp and her husband Donald Ropp, his brother William “Bill” Kendrick and his wife Yvonne, and brother Dennis Kendrick.

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday June 24, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Avenue, Batavia Il.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Saturday June 25, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main Street, Batavia IL. Interment will follow at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Hines for the excellent and loving care they provided to Jack during his many years in the Residential Care Facility. He truly enjoyed his time there, and the relationships he developed with his caregivers and fellow Veterans.
