John Terrence Vani

John Terrence Vani, 76, of North Aurora, IL., passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021, surrounded by his children at his home in North Aurora, IL.  John was born in Chicago, IL. on June 20, 1944, the son of John and Catherine (nee. Gibbons) Vani.

John was a man that valued his family above all else.  He led by example and was a role model to his children, grandchildren, and many others he touched in his life.  He had fond memories of his time spent at the lake. He enjoyed swimming, walking, antiquing, bargain shopping, and being first in any food line.  He was a kind and thoughtful man who was happy to be surrounded by his family. 

John is survived by his four children; Carole (Jeff) Sortino, Steven (Karena) Vani, Susan (Brian DeBlecourt) Chvojcsek and Beth (Nick) Guarni; his eleven grandchildren, Joe and Lisa Sortino, Olivia and Shannon Vani, Chloe and Cooper Chvojcsek, Emily and Ashley DeBlecourt, Emma, Leah and Claire Guarni; his six siblings, Marleen Lorenz, Rick Vani, Rosemary Hudson, Joe Vani, Maryann (Lanny) Goyn and Jean (Bob) LeDonne; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 801 Oak Street, North Aurora, IL. 60542.  Interment will be held privately, at a later date, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Hillside, IL.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John’s name may be made to American Cancer Society, www.donate3.cancer.org.
