November 29, 1936 - January 9, 2021 Judith M. Cameron, 84, of Batavia, Il., formerly of Naperville, Il. and Wheeling, Il., passed away on Saturday, Jan 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family at the Holmstad in Batavia, IL. Judy was born on November 29, 1936 in Chicago, Il., the daughter of Arthur and Miriam (nee. White) Blood. Judy will be remembered for many things. But probably first was her independence. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and did all with a passion, giving of her time and love selflessly. A multi-career professional starting as a Speech Teacher, Health Inspector and Environmental Sanitarian she put others health above her own. A lover of people with a fascination of cultures and religions and embracing people for who they are. A world traveler visiting 39 countries on 5 continents. A humanitarian assisting the local food pantry every Saturday morning for years and providing food and clothing to the local PADS organization, she helped and nurtured so many people. An ecologist long before it was a thing, fighting for green and clean spaces since 1970. A baker of frosted cookies, french toast, lemon cake, and rice crispy treats for family and friends. A lover of music, she played the bassoon and enjoyed going to the Symphony, Opera and Paramount Theatre for plays and musicals. An animal lover she always had a cat and feed the birds and wildlife She loved the Unitarian Church and the spiritually it fostered and good friends. A historian and keeper of family lore, she enjoyed genealogy and researching our family. A photographer- there was always a camera about and boxes of photos. An artist she was creative in art, music, and hand crafts - we all have pieces of her work. A teacher both at school and at home- she taught us about logical consequences, to be responsible human beings, good parents, to love books, puzzles and always learn. Shared her time generously but also knew how to care for herself, set goals, and achieve them. She showed us how to love and care for an aging parent so that we could learn and remember and care for her. We will always have our mom...forget words of passing, loss, or death we focus on her name, her touch, her words and perspective. She is survived by her two children: Elizabeth (Timothy) Corrigan and Jock (Rita) Cameron; her five grandchildren: Ross, Courtney (Rob), Brittany (Mike), Margaret, Connor, and her two great grandchildren: Eli and Clay. She is proceeded in death by her parents and siblings: Miriam and Nancy. Judy will be interned at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet, Il, where she will join her sister and parents. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the following: the Alzheimer’s Association, https://act.alz.org/site/Donation2, or the West Suburban Food Pantry where she was a passionate helper for many years, https://wscpantry.org/donate/, or the Fairbanks house which she loved, https://fairbankshouse.org/support/make-a-donation/. |
