Karen Sue Minnis

Karen Sue Minnis November 23, 1944 - February 29, 2020

Karen Sue Minnis passed away unexpectedly on February 29, 2020 in Batavia. She was born on November 23, 1944 to John Stanley and Clara Jane (nee Waldron) Fagerstrom in Valparaiso, IN. She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, George Minnis III on December 21, 1963 in Batavia, IL.

Karen was a resilient woman who lived a simple life. She took everything day by day and was ready for what was next. She enjoyed being a cosmetologist for over 40 years. Karen had a multitude of interests including gardening, quilting, crocheting, and reading. She made frequent visits to Michigan to visit her daughter Heather and Higgins Lake, one of her favorite places. She was also a fan of the Arizona climate, traveling to the state with her husband when she could. You could never leave her alone with cookies or sweets, or there would be none to speak of. Her grandchildren were a huge part of her life, helping raise them when they were young. While unexpected, the family takes solace in knowing she is with her husband, George.

She is survived in death by her children Heather (Matt) Mueller of South Lyon, MI, Chris (Joan) Minnis of Batavia, and Robert (Elizabeth) Minnis of St. Charles; six grandchildren Nicholas Minnis, Taylor (Dustin Flowers) Minnis, Benjamin Minnis of Seattle, WA, Katie (Scott) Marchetti of Davenport, IA , Zachary Minnis, and Lillian Mueller, and three great grandchildren; Makaylee Minnis, Emery Flowers, and Jacx Flowers; and a sister in law Vicki Fagerstrom. In addition, she leaves behind her faithful companion, Zoey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother John, and her husband George.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday March 7, 2020 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL from 1 – 3PM. A memorial service will begin at 3PM.

Interment will be held privately at West Batavia Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to your local animal shelter or rescue organization.
