Kathryn Ann Carson
April 30, 1982 - May 28, 2021 Kathryn “Kayci” Ann Carson, 39, of Geneva, Il. and formerly of Wheaton, Il., passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021, at Delnor Community Hospital. Kayci was born on April 30, 1982, in Naperville, Illinois, the daughter of Mary Jo “Jodi” Hendricksen and Garry James Carson. Kayci will be remembered as an extraordinary woman. From an early age, and all throughout her life, she battled many debilitating, chronic health issues with grace and acceptance. Regardless of her constant and often seemingly insurmountable challenges Kayci was a loving, compassionate, intelligent, tenacious, gentle, spiritual and patient person. She loved reading Stephen King books, listening to her music (loudly in her car!), spending time with family and her 3 best girlfriends (Shanna, Becca and Kelly), journaling, writing short stories, creating colorful Mandalas, cuddling with Goo and spending time with her favorite “littles”. Kayci loved ALL children, in particular her nephew Eli and nieces Ellie & Izzy; as well as her “nieces” Clara, Emmi, Rae and Sammy. And the children loved her. She lit up around kids and engaged with them at a level uncommon to most adults. Kayci wasn’t afraid of death. She knew she would be free of pain, immersed in the love of our Creator and embraced and loved by those who’ve gone before her. Kayci will be deeply missed by her Mom, Dad, brother Ben, Georgi and the kids, extended family and friends. We will remember her example of courage and acceptance and try to emulate her when faced with obstacles of our own. Be at peace, sweet girl. Kayci is survived by her mother, Jodi Hendricksen; her father, Garry Carson; her brother Ben (Georgi) Carson; her maternal grandmother, Cele Ann Ivnik; her nephew, Eli Carson; her two nieces, Ellie and Izzy Carson; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and her beloved companion / pet, “Goo”. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Rich Ivnik; her paternal grandparents, JoAnn Rosenmeier and Jim Carson; her stepfather, Patrick Sumner; and her uncle Robert J. Ivnik. An intimate gathering of her immediate family and her closest friends will take place later this summer.
