Lorraine Ann Thomas

Lorraine Ann Thomas, age 85 of Batavia passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  She was born May 1, 1937, in Elbert, WV the daughter of Howard and Sally Myers.  She graduated from Gary High School, Gary WV in the class of 1955.  Ann married her loving husband Bob in Aurora, IL in 1956.  She was employed at Mooseheart, J.B. Nelson, and Batavia High School for several years.  Ann also continued her career at Furnas Electric and IBM corporation, retiring from IBM in 1994. Faith and family were very important to Ann.  She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church at Mill Creek, in Geneva and a former longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Batavia.  Ann gave back to her community in many ways which included volunteering at the Batavia Riverwalk during construction and was a life member of Batavia Historical Society. Ann enjoyed traveling, cooking, and baking for all those she loved.

She is survived by her children, Susan (Bill) Rowlett, Cynthia (Steve) Manteufel, and Michael (Lorilyn) Thomas, her brother, John Edward Myers; a sisters-in-law, Linda (Wayne) Thompson and Jean Armbrust; eight wonderful grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert; and a brother, Howard Myers Jr., her in laws; Robert and Winona, a son in-law, Brian Hazelton and a brother-in-law, Stanley Thomas.  

A memorial service will be held 7:00 P.M. Monday, July 11, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  A private Interment will be held in West Batavia Cemetery in Batavia, IL.
