Eva Lucille Peterson

Eva Lucille Peterson, 98, of Batavia passed away Monday, February 7, 2022, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora.  She was born August 11, 1923, in Rochelle, IL the daughter of Arthur and Opal Emily (Richards) McConnaughay.  She was united in marriage to Wilbur A. Peterson June 28, 1947, in Batavia, IL.

Eva was an active member of the Batavia and surrounding communities as a volunteer.  She delivered meals at the Golden Diners program, volunteered at Hessed House, Depot Museum, Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners and Delnor Hospital. She was a former member of Bethany Lutheran Church and The Church at Geneva, a part of Global Missions. 

She is survived by her three children; Mary (Roy Taylor) Catena, of South Carolina; Tom (Rica) Peterson, and David (Cindy) Peterson; five grandchildren, Tania (Matt) Miller, Drew (Jill) Peterson, Kelli (Duane) Bellamy, Eric (Maria Perez) Peterson, and Bryan Peterson; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Esther Flodstrom, a brother Author McConnaughay; sister-in-law Joanne McConnaughay; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur A. Peterson; and three brothers, Richard, Gene, and Robert, a sister Irene Felkey, her son-in-law Dan Catena and a grandson Daniel Catena. 

Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:30 A.M.  Interment will be in West Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, IL.
