Jan Lundsteen
 July 18, 1941 - January 11, 2022
Jan Lundsteen, 80, of Sugar Grove, IL died January 11, 2022, peacefully at home in Sugar Grove, IL following a terminal cancer diagnosis in early January. Jan was born July 18, 1941 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Jan graduated from the Royal Academy of Optometry in 1960, and served in the Danish Navy. He emigrated to the US to study therapeutic contact lens techniques with Dr. Lin Moore in Muskogee, OK, was recruited to manage laboratories for American Optical, and spent the rest of his career representing various optical manufacturers. Jan is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Jean Marie Socknat Lundsteen of Sioux City, Iowa, and their children Natalie (Pat Byrne) of Dallas, TX, Brad (Katy) of Hampshire, IL, Anna (Jeff Tuohy) of North Aurora, IL, and Cricket Janette Quast of Fort Worth, TX, along with his brother Niels and nephews Nikolaj and Jacob of Copenhagen, and grandchildren Justin (Alexandra), Casey (Erycka), Jacob (Kaitlynn), Jeanine, Katrina, Alexander, Easton, Trenton, Izzie, Ally, Kirsten, and great-grandson Brady. Jan was preceded in death by his parents, Anna Torup-Hansen and Jørgen Lundsteen, and his brother Bjørn. A remembrance service is planned for Sunday May 29 at 2:00pm at BSA Camp Big Timber, Elgin, IL. Jan's Scouting colleagues have created a memorial fund page.
