Marlys Joanne Johnson
 August 30, 1937 - April 26, 2020 On Sunday, April 26th, Marlys Joanne Johnson went to be with our Lord after battling cancer for almost 3 years. A loving, sweet, caring woman who dedicated her life to mission work in Colombia, she will be missed by so many in multiple generations of family and friends in the 3 countries she called home. Marlys was born August 30, 1937 and spent most of her childhood in Canada as a pastor’s kid. She was predeceased by her parents Hjalmer and Violet Peterson, her sisters Donna and Margot. Marlys is survived by her brothers Ronald (Marilyn) and John (Carol), her husband Richard of 59 years, her 6 children Kristin Baly (Steven), Kirk (Carolyn), Andrew (Sandra), Karla Pollard, Matthew (Dorene) and Nathaniel, 11 grandchildren Nisse Hoge (Robert), Mari Parga (Francisco), Erik Baly (Samantha), Kirk Baly (Nicole), Gavin, Landon, Griffin, Caden, Alex, Kevin, Natalia and 13 great grandchildren Violet, Daisy, Olive, Joaquin, Belen, Marcelo, Ezequiel, Miriam, Martha, Ezra, Uriah, Jedidiah and Adalyn. Due to pandemic restrictions, a closed private service for immediate family will be held at Moss Family Funeral Home in Batavia, IL on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 1 PM with internment to immediately follow at Westside Cemetery in Batavia.
