Mary Alice Sierawski

Mary Alice Sierawski, 85, of Batavia, Il., passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022, surrounded by her family at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, Il.  Mary Alice was born on September 3, 1936, in Kankakee, Il., the daughter of Erwin and Esther (nee. Mills) Grey.  She was united in marriage to Joseph Sierawski on May 21, 1966, in Chicago, Il.

Mary Alice moved with her parents from Kankakee to Chicago where she attended Longwood Academy.  It was here where she fell in love with the theater.  She met and married Joseph Sierawski in Chicago and they settled in Palos Heights to raise their family. She was a devoted and loving mother.  Mary Alice started her career as a secretary at DePaul University in Chicago and moved on to work at Hunt Insurance Agency.   She finished her career at Follett Corporation as an executive secretary to the President of Follett.  Along the way she made numerous lifelong friends.   She always felt that family and friends were very important.   Mary Alice and her husband were avid golfers and spent as much time as they could on the golf course even purchasing a condo in Myrtle Beach, S.C. so they could get away on golfing vacations.   Upon retirement they spent time traveling across the country,  Canada, and overseas visiting Ireland.  Mary Alice also loved to read, do crosswords and garden.  She will always be remembered for her smile, laugh, and her feisty personality.  She was also very devoted to her faith.

Mary Alice is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Jody) Switzer; and several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Joseph Sierawski; and her son, Daniel Sierawski.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 S. Batavia Ave., Batavia, Il. 60510.  Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. before proceeding to Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main Street, Batavia, Il. 60510, for Mass at 10:30 A.M.  Interment will take place at 2:30 P.M. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Il.
