Norma Christine Strait

Norma Christine “Chris” (Bowling) Strait, 93, passed from this life on July 30, 2022.  For the past five years, Norma has been a resident of Bickford Senior Living of St. Charles, IL.  She was cared for by a loving and professional staff, Traditions Health Hospice and her dedicated daughter, Dr. Linda Anderson. 

Norma was born in Waynesboro, Virginia, in 1929.  She grew up during the Great Depression in Alexandria, VA.  With her husband, Lyle, Norma raised four children in both Michigan and Virginia.  After their children moved on, Lyle and Norma retired from Alexandria, VA, to their dream home in Spotsylvania, VA.  Following many happy years together, Lyle passed away in 1988, Norma continued her retirement in Volusia County, Florida, where she made many friends and enjoyed team bowling well into her 80’s. 

Norma is survived by her daughters, Linda Sue Anderson (Dennis), of Batavia, IL, and Barbara Jean Strait of California, her sister, Jean Ann Bowling of Annapolis, MD.  Grandma Strait is also survived by her seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Kenneth Strait, her daughter, Penny Christine Shepherd (Dayton), her son Lyle Kenneth Strait, Jr. (Shirley), three sisters and two brothers.

Norma will be laid to rest next to her husband in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fredericksburg, VA, where a graveside service will be held 11:00 A.M. ­­­­­­­­­­­­Wednesday, August 10, 2022.
