Rev. Richard “Dick” Kenneavy III, 72, of North Aurora, loving husband of 50 years passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on May 12, 2021. He was born December 7, 1948 in Evansville, IN to Richard Francis and Audrey Lee (Bechtold) Kenneavy II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry; two sons, Michael, and Patrick (Jennifer); three grandchildren, Devon (Jill), Brenna, and Morgan; two great-grandchildren, Chase and Cole; his siblings, Carol (Kurt), Nancy (Brian), Roger (Dawn), Kathy, Kevin (Stacey) and Tom (Casey).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Kenneavy and Audrey Reininger, and his stepmother, Phyllis Kenneavy.
Richard was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Purple Heart; Bronze Stars and other medals. Richard spent his career working for Lucent Technologies as an engineer. Upon retirement he attended Northern Illinois Seminary and went on to become an ordained minister. He served as an interim pastor at Faith Baptist Church of Mill Creek and First Baptist Church of Plano.
Richard was a proud and dedicated Mason and had been a member of Batavia Masonic Lodge #404 since 1997.
Visitation and all services will be held at First Baptist Church Aurora 15 Oak Avenue Aurora, IL A funeral service will begin at 10:30 A.M. Monday May 17, 2021 with the Masonic service, then the religious service to begin at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Batavia Mason Lodge #404 or First Baptist Church of Aurora.
