Robert F. Mietus
January 11, 1967 - March 19, 2020 Robert F. Mietus, 53, of Batavia passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at his home. Robert was born January 11, 1967 in Buffalo, NY the son of Frank and Harriett (Hapka) Mietus. Robert was an I.T. project manager who had a successful and enjoyable career. Currently he was employed by the American College of Surgeons. Robert took his career vary serious and was known for always learning, attending conferences and finding ways to sharpen his trade. He was a graduate of University of Pittsburg with a degree in computer science. Rob was affectionately known as Coach Rob. Having vast knowledge of baseball and his love for coaching the youth, especially his son Chase, Rob was instrumental in forming the Batavia Bandits Youth Baseball program. In Rob’s spare time he enjoyed cheering for his favorite teams the Buffalo Bills and the Chicago White Sox. Rob also had a fond infatuation with bacon and loved washing it down with a few beers. He is survived by his son Chase Mietus, his mother Harriett of West Seneca, NY; two brothers James (Karen) Mietus of Rochester, NY and David Mietus of Phoenix, AZ; his nieces and nephew, Danielle, Zachary and Amanda, his former wife Lynn Mietus and his childhood best friend Greg Bunn. He is preceded in death by his father Frank Mietus; and his uncles Eugene Mietus and Stephen Hapka. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date in both Buffalo, New York and in Chicago, IL. |
