Robert Vlakancic, 93, of North Aurora passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva. Robert was born November 3, 1928, in Aurora, IL the son of Constant and Anna (Malley) Vlakancic. He was united in marriage to Dolores Schaefer August 22, 1953, in Aurora, IL. Robert was a 1946, graduate of Marmion Academy. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 until 1949. Bob served his country with honor, he served on the USS, Fort Knox and was always open to sharing his Navy stores. Following his service time he continued his education at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Bob then went to work at Barber Greene Manufacturing for many years. Bob married the love of his life Dolores Schaefer on August 22, 1953. Together they made Aurora home and started a young family. In 1961, Bob moved his family to Batavia. Bob’s strong Catholic faith was very important and instrumental throughout his life. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and served as a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Bob was active his entire life and he enjoyed woodworking. As active as he always was, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family or to just relax with a book and a cigar on the back porch. He is survived by his four children; Paul Vlakancic, Mark (Sue) Vlakancic, Ann (Dave Forler) MacGregor, Joan (Chris) Minnis; nine grandchildren, Jacob (Bridget) Vlakancic, Ashley Vlakancic, Sarah (Andy) Guzauskas, Alex (Melissa) Vlakancic, Crystal (Nate) Nagy, Amanda (Dominique) Robinson, Ben Minnis, Kaite (Scott) Marchetti, Zack Minnis; seven great-grandchildren, Alexis Nagy, George, Henry and Elle Vlakancic, Philip Guzauskas, Marina Vlakancic, and Leo Marchetti. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Dolores, a son John Vlakancic and daughter Clare Vlakancic-Thompson and his siblings, Mary Glenney and Constance Vlakancic. There will be no Visitation. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30 A.M. Monday, October 31, 2022, at Holy Cross Catholic Church 2300 Main Street Batavia, IL.
