Rudolph F. Schlecht, 81, of Aurora passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his home. Rudy was born December 29, 1939, in Evanston, IL, the son of Leopold and Elisabeth (nee Rommel) Schlecht. He was united in marriage to Diane Gehant, September 11, 1965, in Chicago, IL. Rudy served in the United States Marine Corp for 6 years. He then served as a Chicago Fire Fighter for 36 years until his retirement. During retirement, Rudy went back to work as a school bus driver for the City of Geneva School District, and also contributed his time as an election judge in Aurora. Rudy was an active member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Aurora, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 736 where he served as Grand Knight for 5 years. He is survived by his loving wife Diane; four children, Margaret (Don) Beddard, Karyn Schlecht, Robert Schlecht, Richard (Lynda) Schlecht; four grandchildren, Brooke Beddard, Nathaniel, Joseph, and Elizabeth Schlecht. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings; Paula Peterson, and Leo Schlecht. Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, September 27, 2021, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. Funeral services will begin with prayers 9:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from Moss Family Funeral Home, before proceeding to Annunciation Catholic Church, 1820 Church Road Aurora, IL, to celebrate Mass at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
