Sara R. Murtaugh

Sara R. Murtaugh, 88, of Batavia passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at Ekstam Assisted Living in Batavia.  She was born July 19, 1932, in St. Charles, IL the daughter of Harry and Esther (Hurtig) Ogren.  She was united in marriage to Robert Murtaugh November 17, 1951 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Aurora. 

Sara was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother.  She raised her family with love, in a Catholic Faith filled house who enjoyed caring for family, her home and her gardens.  She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Sara volunteered at the Batavia interfaith food pantry and her Church.  She had an enjoyable career working as an administrative assistant at Furnas Electric for many years until her retirement. 

She is survived by her six children; Bernie (Mary) Murtaugh, Robin (Steve) Lunacek, Karen (John) Lance; Tim (Amy) Murtaugh, Kathy (Todd) Montgomery, and Michael Murtaugh; seven grandchildren, Alan Murtaugh, Amanda (Chris) Babb, Stephanie (Brad) Lutz, Sarah (Bryce) Skriba, Garrett Lance, Megan (Dan) Leifker, Corey Murtaugh; and three great-grandchildren, Edgar Babb, Charlotte, and Camille Skriba; a sister Sally Mayer; and a brother-in-law Edward Murtaugh.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert; and her siblings, Henry Ogren, Daniel Ogren, June Wise, and Violet Kraft. 

Visitation will be held 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. 

Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church 2300 Main Street Batavia, IL.  Interment will be in River Hills Memorial Park, Batavia, IL.
