Sharlene S. Dulmage

Sharlene S. Dulmage July 7, 1919 - May 31, 2020

Sharlene S. Dulmage passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on May 31, 2020 in South Elgin, IL. She was born on July 7, 1919 in Watertown, NY to Harold and Pearl (nee MacMillan) Siver.

She was from a generation where people had theme songs, hers was Satin Doll. She spent her youthful summers in Canada with family. In her early 20's she lived in Chicago and New York City, where she attended college. She eloped in New York City, with her great love Bernard Sylvester, and by the age of 25 she sadly was a widow. Afterword’s, she returned to her hometown and met Judson Dulmage. They moved to Cleveland in the mid 1950’s. Judson and Sharlene later divorced and by 1969 she was managing a home, work, and six kids on her own. She had a passion for learning and was natural teacher to her children. Sharlene was known for her humor, she was subtle, however on many occasions she had an untimely and uncontrollable case of the church giggles. She was brave, solid, educated, and generally even tempered, a real class act.  She loved music, dancing, art, and impromptu trips. Her greatest joy was being a mom, and she was great at it, Sharlene was her children’s greatest cheerleader and their great protector. She truly relished the simple pleasures in life, in 1986 she retired from Case Western University as a student advocate. The family’s memories are endless and so is their love for this great lady. She will be missed.  May she rest in the peace of our great Lord and Savior until we meet again.

Sharlene leaves behind six children Jay Dulmage, Paul (Bernadette) Dulmage, Jeff Dulmage, Joel Dulmage, J. Michael Dulmage, and Denise “Dee Dee” (Paul) Beran. She leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She took immense pride in her family.

Sharlene is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dougal Siver, her sister Lois Mermigas, her sister Eva Daniels, and her brother Jr.

Services will be private due to the COVID pandemic.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Anderson Animal Shelter in South Elgin, IL.

Sharlene will be interred at White Haven Memorial Park in Rochester, NY.
