Steven Michael Vaughn

Steve Vaughn, 74, of Sycamore, IL and formerly of Batavia and Aurora, IL. Passed away at Northwestern medicine Kishwaukee Hospital on November 26, 2022. He was born on November 2, 1948, in Aurora, IL. the Son of James and Lillian (Yates) Vaughn.

Steve was a laid back and easy-going guy and always had a smile. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell jokes. No matter what obstacle he faced it was always with a positive attitude.  Steve grew up in Aurora, IL. He graduated from West Aurora High School in 1966. He worked as an Engineer at BNSF for 42 years retiring in 2010. He also worked in the excavating business for many years during that time. Steve Enjoyed many hobbies during his retirement and had developed a great passion for painting. He loved to travel all over the US. After retiring he enjoyed winters in Arizona and especially loved fishing in Destin, FL. Steve will be dearly missed by family and friends and will always be remembered for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Cindy (nee Phillips) Vaughn, Daughters; Christi Vaughn, Carrie Vaughn, a son; Steve (Christine) Vaughn; five grandchildren, Morganne, Madisen, Max, Tyler and Jared; his siblings; Deborah (Jerry) Eckel, Rebeca Vaughn, Sue (Mark) Tesmer, Lori (Dan) Kroening, Melissa (Mike) Pitstick, and Mark Vaughn; a sister- in-law; Bonnie Vaughn; several nieces and nephews; and a special grand dog Sami. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Rodney Vaughn and David Vaughn.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M.  Following the memorial service, interment will be in Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, IL.
